Anica Kitanoska often highlights aspects in nature that are typically overlooked, transforming them into compelling centerpieces. As a result, the lushness of the canopy and the roughness of the moss take on greater significance in her works. In both her paintings and mosaics, she applies paint or cement in the form of dots and vigorous strokes, trying to capture the feelings she experiences during these moments spent in nature.

Although these emotions are difficult to articulate, she tries to convey them to the viewers as effectively as possible. Up close, her works appear as abstract compositions filled with vibrant color and textured surfaces.

It is only upon stepping back that the overall composition unfolds.

The process of creating a mosaic differs significantly from that of a painting. With a limited color spectrum, she must have been innovative in the use of colors to achieve the desired results.

She has successfully perfected the techniques of painting and mosaic, blending them into a cohesive synergy that creates a new  way to experience depth. Now, her mosaics resemble paintings, while her paintings reflect the qualities of mosaics.

“Who?” prompts viewers to consider the ethical and moral implications of war, leaving a profound visual impression on the audience. Through art, the piece engages viewers and challenges them to reflect on the meaning of humanity and responsibility in modern conflicts.

Anica Kitanoska is a contemporary mosaic and fine art artist trained at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Ravenna. Currently, based in Bologna, her work
focuses on creating detailed compositions of invisible textures and balanced elements in nature, translated into intricate dynamics and relationships of complex phenomena shaped by human activity.
