Description

Folk dress No.4 illuminates kindness as a vital force that binds people together and sustains the community. Here, kindness is not seen merely as a personal virtue, but as a social bond, an innate expression of care, integrity, and generosity.

Inherited Attire show reflects the spirit of the Macedonian woman, weaving traditional values into a new tapestry of modern identity. In this context, the inherited attire is more than just clothing, it’s a form of self-expression that reflects our deepest traits and tendencies, shaping both how we see ourselves and how we are perceived by others.

This exhibition serves as a powerful reminder to the younger generation of the core values and virtues that define us: kindness, love, critical awareness, perseverance, and resourcefulness. The show interprets the past and present through a captivating dualistic lens, using juxtapositions, harmonies, and intricate interweaving to create new meanings and connections.

Drawing inspiration from traditional ornamentation and embroidery, Mila rethinks and reinterprets the basic elements of art: color, line, surface, form, material, and space. She works with hand-sculpted cement, glass-sprinkled surfaces, and innovative weaving and painting techniques. Inherited values are transfigured, boldly resonating with today’s social landscape.

Mila Dobrevska (1999, Skopje) is a Macedonian multidisciplinary artist currently based in Milan. Experimenting with painting, mosaic, sculpture, and textile manipulation, Dobrevska seeks to capture a rapidly evolving world that often forgets its roots. She combines traditional techniques with contemporary  abstraction to explore themes of collective memory, identity, and cultural heritage, with the human being as her central subject. She holds both BA and MA degrees in Visual Arts and Contemporary Mosaic from the Academy of Fine Arts in Ravenna. Dobrevska is represented by Pioneri Art Platform (Skopje) and A Pick Gallery (Turin), and is a member of DLUM (Association of Artists of Macedonia) and MARTE (Ravenna). Her work has been presented internationally at institutions including the National Museum of Ravenna, MAR – Museum of Art Ravenna, the Dolenjski Museum (Slovenia), the Museum of Contemporary Art (MoCA) Skopje, and the Wilanów Cultural Center (Poland). Solo exhibitions include shows in Barcelona (Pioneri Gallery), Ljubljana (Stane Kregar Gallery, St. Stanislav Institute), and Skopje (National Gallery of the Republic of North Macedonia – Mala Stanica; and MKC – Youth Cultural Center).
