Description
Carmen Delgado Huertas is our first artist from Spain. She graduated in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona.
In recent years, the body has been one of the central elements of her work, the support of her spirituality, her organs, her senses… The objects she uses are always, or almost always, connected to the body.
for the Boots series, now on view in our gallery space, Carmen says:
“Boots are objects that cover part of our body; they support us, they walk and dance. When we take them off, they continue to exist—they rest in our bedroom, retain energy, radiate their own light. But they can also illuminate and leap away from our legs, just as we, outside our bodies (feeling, dreaming, dying), exist beyond our physical support. This is the life of drawings and what fascinates me: that they can reveal the soul of things.”
She works on textured and coloured Canson paper, using dry techniques such as pastel and charcoal.
In one of the works, a subtle collage highlights the contrast between the more figurative element and a patch of light.
